Series 1, 2 and 3 of Malta Grajjietha was screened on TVM in 2008 and 2009

Malta is rich in its history and heritage. But very often, televiewers are bombarded with good documentaries which promote important heritage sites and the way of living of other countries whilst our unique identity is not properly explained. The concept behind the series MALTA... GRAJJIETHA was to create a series of high level television productions that inform the local tele viewers about Malta`s history and recorded events. Malta Grajjietha is a planned 52 x 30min television documentary series which will trace Malta`s recent history to our times.

The episodes are based on the best-selling book in Maltese “Ġrajjiet Malta fl-Imgħoddi” and written in a short fast moving script aimed at popularising Maltese history and events.  Each programme analises a number of events falling in that particular week. The script is backed by archive

material - both video and printed, and by comments from historians, experts and/or persons involved in the event.

The scriptwriter and programme co-ordinator is retired journalist/broadcaster, John Inguanez, author of the book.  Mr Inguanez is a retired journalist-broadcaster with over 30 years experience with Public Broadcasting Services as Programme Manager Radio, Senior Manager (News & Radio), Managing Editor News and Executive Broadcast TV.

Producer and director Alvin Scicluna likewise needs no introduction in the Maltese television circles as he has been deeply involved in several top level productions for national television. The series is presented by veteran TV journalist Joe Dimech. Malta Grajjietha was awarded the Best documentary Award in the 2008 Malta Television Awards edition.
