Kuluri is a
twelve programme series which attempts to discover the natural beauty
of Gozo through walks around its coastline. Despite its minute size,
Gozo never stops to fascinate the lover of nature. Huge countries
offer beaches and panoramas that are hundreds of miles long…. Gozo,
with its peculiar bays, cliffs and coastline, offers hundreds of
views, one distinct from the other.
Apart from the
prominent landmarks, there are minor localities to be discovered
by the discerning traveller. Throughout the centuries, these placenames
have all been documented by the humble inhabitants of Gozo who still
refer to them in their daily toil for a living.
A walk around
Gozo`s Coastline will unearth many of Gozo`s hidden gems. Apart
from the well known bays and beaches like Marsalforn and Xlendi,
the island boasts of a score of lesser known yet spectacular beaches
like Hondoq ir-Rummien, Dahlet Qorrot and San Blas, Xwejni and Mgarr
ix-Xini - placenames which are all semitic in character and which
indicate periods in the island`s history that are lost in time.
Kuluri is an
effort by Gozitan born camera-director Alvin Scicluna to make the
inhabitants of this small island more aware of the natural heritage
that makes their island home so unique. The series is ably presented
by Ray Bajada and cut at Citadel Video, Gozo`s professional post-production
facility house.
This series
with a commentary in Maltese is now available in three VHS cassettes
for home use.
