Gozo's Inland and Coastal Towers

An interesting historical legacy that can be observed and studied in Gozo are the towers built during the stay of the knights to protect the inhabitants and ward off pirates` incursions. Many of these towers can still be seen both in old villages and by the coast. These had visual contact with the citadel in the middle of the island so that warning of enemy raids could be passed on from one watchtower to another.
